ShelfRules is a free product image checker for sellers who list on several marketplaces. Drop your images in the page and it measures size, aspect ratio, format, file size, color mode, background and product share locally, then shows a red, yellow and green result for Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, eBay, Etsy, Shopify and Google Merchant Center. Every rule carries a source link and the date we last verified it.

In three steps
How it works
- 1
Drop your images
Add one photo or a whole folder. Checking happens on your device, so nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Read the matrix
Each marketplace gets a red, yellow or green result per rule, with the rule’s source and the date we verified it.
- 3
Fix what is flagged
Follow the fix shown on each rule, or let a paid plan repair the images: pure white background, marketplace sizes and margins, and a ZIP with every marketplace version.
Why trust it
Why you can trust the results
53 rules across 7 marketplaces, kept in one library.
Every rule has a source
Each rule links to the marketplace document or help page it came from, with a note on how reliable that source is.
Verified on 2026-10-29
The rule library was last verified on 2026-10-29. Where a marketplace has not published a rule first-hand, we label it instead of presenting it as fact.
Human checks are marked
Some rules, like text on a main image, cannot be judged from pixels. They appear as a checklist, never as a green tick.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does the checker upload my images?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The files are read into memory on your device, measured, and discarded when you close the page.
Does passing the checker guarantee my listing is accepted?
No. We check against public rules as of 2026-10-29. Platforms can change rules, apply them differently, or have private rules, so always confirm in the platform's own dashboard.
Which marketplaces are covered?
Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, eBay, Etsy, Shopify and Google Merchant Center. Each has a requirements page listing its rules.
Do you upload images when I use the repair tools?
Only the repair tools send an image to our server, and only the image you choose to repair. It is processed in memory on our own server, never written to disk or stored, and never passed to a third party. The checker itself never uploads anything.
How does billing work?
Paid plans are billed by successfully delivered SKU. A SKU that fails is not counted. You can cancel any time from the Account page, and payment is handled by Creem as Merchant of Record.
Guides
Guides for common image problems
Step-by-step fixes, each tied to the rules it covers.
- Multi-marketplace product image size cheat sheetEvery size, shape and file limit in our rule library, side by side. Tiers differ: some numbers are hard minimums, some are recommendations, and some take effect on a future date.
- White background (RGB 255) explainedSeveral marketplaces ask for a pure white main image background. Pure white means red, green and blue are all at the maximum value. Off-white or grey shadows near the edge can look white to the eye and still fail.
- Product occupancy: how to measure itSome marketplaces say the product should fill most of the frame. Occupancy depends on how you measure it, so here is the method our checker uses.
- AI-generated image disclosure by platformMarketplaces are adding rules for AI-made images, from metadata tags to plain honesty about what the item looks like. Some are measurable in the file, some are policy statements.
- Fixing supplier images for multiple marketplacesSupplier photos often have grey backgrounds, wrong sizes, watermarks or embedded color profiles that marketplaces reject. One export can satisfy several platforms if you use the common denominator.
- Google Merchant Center 500px minimum from 2027Google Merchant Center has announced a minimum image size that becomes mandatory on a set date. Until then the checker shows it as a warning so you can fix files early.
