Amazon white background: how to make it pure white
Short answer: Amazon's Product image guide requires a pure white background for the main image: RGB 255,255,255, which is hex #FFFFFF. The product should also fill 85% of the frame. To get there, cut the product out, place it on a canvas filled with that exact white, scale it up to fill the frame, and run the file through the checker, which tests the edge pixels. The free fix tool does these steps for you.

Amazon's Product image guide asks for a pure white background on the main image. Close to white is not enough, so here are the target value and the steps to get there.
Steps
- Cut the product out of its background in your editor, or let the fix tool do it. Keep the product pixels unchanged.
- Fill a new canvas with pure white, RGB 255,255,255 (#FFFFFF), and place the product on it.
- Scale the product until it fills at least 85% of the width or height, without cropping any part of it.
- Export a JPEG in RGB with the longest side at 1000 px or more so zoom works, then run the checker and fix anything that is red.
Amazon rules for the main image background and size
Rules last verified October 30, 2026. Checked against public rules as of October 30, 2026; this is not a guarantee of acceptance.
Amazon: Main image needs a pure white background (RGB 255,255,255)
Main imageRequiredMeasured automaticallyVerified October 30, 2026
Edge pixels pure white (RGB 255), at least 90% of the edge band
Why: Amazon's Product image guide requires a pure white background (RGB color values: 255, 255, 255) for the main image. Its Image suppression page lists a non-white background as a reason to hide a listing.
How to fix: Remove the background and fill it with pure white (#FFFFFF). Avoid off-white or grey shadows near the edges.
Amazon: Product should fill 85% or more of the main image frame
Main imageRequiredMeasured automaticallyVerified October 30, 2026
Product fills at least 85% of the frame
Why: Amazon's Product image guide says to show the product as 85% of the image. It does not say "or more", but its Image suppression page lists a product that is too small in the frame as a reason to hide a listing, so we treat 85% as the minimum. We measure the longer side of the non-white bounding box.
How to fix: Crop closer to the product, or scale the product up on the canvas until it fills at least 85% of the width or height.
Amazon: Longest side at least 1000 px to enable zoom
All imagesWarningMeasured automaticallyVerified October 30, 2026
Longest side at least 1000 px
Why: Amazon's Product image guide recommends 1000 px or more for the best customer experience, and says images with 1000 px or more on the longest side enable the zoom function.
How to fix: Export the image with the longest side at 1000 px or more (1600 px+ recommended).
