Does eBay require a white background?
Short answer: No. eBay does not require a white background. Its picture policy sets no background rule, and its Adding pictures help page only says white backgrounds are generally best, adding that a darker background may work better for reflective items. What eBay does require is at least 500 px on the longest side and no added text, borders or watermarks. Our checker therefore never fails an eBay photo for its background.
No images yet. Results will appear here: red means fail, yellow means warning, green means pass, and gray needs a manual check.
eBay's picture policy and its Adding pictures help page are the two public sources. Neither makes a white background mandatory.

Frequently asked questions
- Does eBay require a white background?
- No. eBay's picture policy does not mention backgrounds, and the Adding pictures help page calls white backgrounds generally best, which is advice, not a requirement.
- Is a white background better for eBay photos?
- eBay's help page says white backgrounds are generally best, and that a darker background may work better for reflective items. If you also sell on Amazon, whose main image must be pure white (RGB 255), one white-background photo can serve both.
- Is my image uploaded when I use the checker?
- No. The checker runs entirely in your browser. Your images are decoded and measured locally and are never sent to a server.
