Product image aspect ratio by marketplace
Short answer: Walmart expects square (1:1) images, and TikTok Shop requires them. eBay's help page says photos in a 1:1 or 16:9 aspect ratio look best, and Etsy says the first photo should be horizontal or square. A square image is the one shape that fits all four, so a square export is the safe default. The table shows the source of each rule.
No images yet. Results will appear here: red means fail, yellow means warning, green means pass, and gray needs a manual check.
Some marketplaces require square images, others only advise a shape. This guide lists what each one says and where it comes from.

Longest side at least 1600 px
Why: eBay's Adding pictures help page recommends images of about 1600 x 1600 pixels (500 x 500 is the minimum), and says photos in a 1:1 or 16:9 aspect ratio generally look best in listings and search results.
How to fix: Export at about 1600 px on the longest side. Do not upscale a small photo.

Etsy: First photo at least 635 px wide and tall
Main imageWarningMeasured automaticallyVerified October 30, 2026
Shortest side at least 635 px
Why: Etsy says the first photo should be at least 635 px in both width and height so it does not show up lower in searches. Etsy also says the first photo should be horizontal (landscape) or square so the center focal point appears in the cropped thumbnails; its thumbnail tips add that you should avoid square crops and upload horizontal images.
How to fix: Use a first photo of 635 px or more on both sides.
